Big Special have dropped their final new music of 2023 in the form of ‘Trees’. It’s a pounding track, underpinned by gritty, prominent bass and their trademark poetic-punk vocals. It’s more of a slow burn than some of their past work, but the climactic explosion of texture in its final moments is more than worth the journey. They explain that the track is “about ritual… about routines and objects we start to depend on to cope with our life and times and the journeys we take to fulfill that dependence. It’s about how life catches up with you whilst trying to balance those cycles of responsibility and self-gratification.” The band are heading out on a six-date UK headline tour starting on December 11th, 2023. -Dan Peeke
